McMurry University’s Christmas Light Show Opens on Dec. 4 with Special Holiday Band Concert

ABILENE,Texas –McMurry University invites the Abilene community to enjoy Christmasmusic, hot chocolate and cookies, and see this year’s Christmas light show onTuesday Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Furr Welcome Center. A receptionwill be held in the Furr Welcome Center immediately following the lightingceremony.   Thelighting event will be joined this year by a special one-hour free holidayconcert by the McMurry University Band beginning at 7:30 p.m. at RadfordAuditorium. The concert will feature the McMurry Wind Ensemble, conducted byDavid Robinson with guest conductor David Wallis, and the McMurry Jazz Band,conducted by Mark Wilcox. {{more}} Performances will include Christmas Music forWinds by John Cacavas and Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, SecondSuite for Military Band by Gustav Holst, Procession of Nobles byRimski-Korsakov, and Salvation is Created by Pavel Tschesnokoff.   Acoordinated audio-visual Christmas Light Show will be shown in front of theFurr Welcome Center continuously from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night through NewYear’s Day.   Visitorsmay tune in to a special FM frequency to hear the musical presentation withouthaving to leave their vehicles. Come join with the McMurry family incelebrating the holiday season.
