Hardin-Simmons University gives qualifying students close to $12,000,000 in scholarships each year. About $2,000,000 of that is in endowed scholarships. Students who receive the monetary gifts toward their education at HSU will meet the person responsible for the scholarship, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the annual Donor-Recipient Scholarship Luncheon, where about 100 students will be paired with their donors. {{more}} Vice president for institutional advancement, Mike Hammack, says one day many of the students receiving the funds will be the donors. “As joyous as students may be feeling about the money they have received, a day will come when they will have the opportunity to pave the path for the next generation. The real joy will come then, when they take the seat of the person next to them,” says Hammack. In addition to the endowed scholarships, Hardin-Simmons students who are new or returning and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, receive an additional $10,000,000 in institutional academic scholarships for their education at HSU. The annual event takes place in the Johnson Building Multipurpose room, beginning at noon tomorrow.
