By Nicole Ferrara Capt UCAF ACC 7 BW/PADyess Air Force Base, Texas – Nominations for the Dyess Air Force Base honorary commander program are due to the 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs office by Sept. 23, 2015.Dyess is seeking applicants for the 489th Bomb Group, 489th Maintenance Squadron, 345th Bomb Squadron, and 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron honorary commander positions.The Dyess honorary commander program is designed to educate and increase the knowledge and understanding of local civic leaders about the Air Force and the installation.Honorary commanders are expected to attend various base and unit events as appropriate to gain a more complete understanding of their assigned unit’s mission and challenges. In turn, honorary commanders will educate their Air Force counterpart on various aspects of community support by inviting them to attend events off-base.Community members interested in becoming an honorary commander, or learning more about the program, may inquire about the nomination process and acquire the appropriate forms by contacting the 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs office at 696-2863.
