The Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 21st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Dinner on January 21, 2013 at 6:30 pm. This popular event celebrates the life and message of one of the most influential individual of the 20th Century and is attended by over 800 people every year. Aside from a keynote speaker, the event also features multicultural entertainment from within our community. The keynote speaker for the 2013 event is Dr. James E. Race, MD. Dr. Race specializes in Internal Medicine and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Meharry Medical Center in Nashville, TN in 1984. {{more}} Dr. Race is also the owner of RJE Clinical Research. He has conducted over 26 different clinical trials. His primary clinical interest include: hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, dyslipidemia, geriatrics, and Alzheimer’s disease.This year’s theme for the MLK Banquet is “Our Past Our Future.” We believe that Dr. Race, a man of compassion, will do an excellent job with this theme.Our goal is to increase attendance and broaden the audience to include all segments of our community. An important facet of our annual event is our effort to reach the children and teach them about the importance of Dr. King’s message. We are expecting an outstanding evening filled with inspiration, education and motivation. We look forward to your continued support.
