ABILENE, Texas – The City of Abilene is launching a new software system to improve the application and hiring processes for employment with the City.  Beginning Monday, April 22, 2013, job seekers will be able to apply online for open positions by visiting www.cityofabilene.jobs.  Interested candidates can apply for current vacancies or sign up for new openings as they become available.  Using this new technology, the City’s Human Resources staff and department managers will be able to access online records to expedite hiring and enhance selection of new employees. The new software streamlines the job search and application process for job seekers.  Instead of completing multiple applications to apply for multiple job openings, candidates will use one profile to submit multiple applications electronically. {{more}}“This new online system will significantly enhance the process for applicants as well as create efficiencies for HR staff and hiring managers,” said Ronnie Kidd, Managing Director for Administration.   Beginning April 22, 2013, the City will begin to phase out paper applications. Job seekers will be able to submit applications from their own personal computers, or submit applications using kiosks in the customer relations center on the first floor of City Hall or by accessing computers at one of the City’s three library branches.  The Texas Workforce Commission is also partnering with the City to provide computer access to job seekers.  As always, assistance for applicants is available at City Hall located at 555 Walnut St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
