If you want to rock, come to the Annual 2013 Central Texas Gem and Mineral Show! Founded in 1954, the CTGMS has been hosting gem shows annually. Part of the proceeds benefits local geology students in the form of college scholarships. This year, the CTGMS will honor three students from Hardin Simmons with scholarships. The show will feature displays of rock specimens and minerals, lapidary and wire wrapping skills, and jewelry making, to name a few. There is also a demonstration table, which displays silver-smithing, wire-wrapping, beading, rock-painting, gem-tree creation, and other artistic techniques. Visitors can shop at a variety of vendor’s booths which sell specimens, lapidary equipment, jewelry, bead strands, etc. {{more}} The club sponsors the Silent Auction table, geodes , showcase raffle items, and the Wheel of Fortune table. The show lasts the whole weekend, from 10 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. that night and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Every hour an admission ticket will be drawn for an adult prize and a children’s prize. At the conclusion of the show on Sunday night, the raffles and Grand Prize will be drawn. The show is a great weekend activity, perfect for families and everyone else. A membership table will be on hand for anyone who desires to become a part of this great organization or more information. Y’all come for a great weekend on April 13-14!
