ABILENE, TEXAS – The Abilene Zoo will be offering plenty of “new” fun for the whole family during Spring Break Week, March 11-15. New animals, a new train ride, and new food items at the Watering Hole concession stand will make your visit even more enjoyable. New animals joining the Zoo’s collection of 800 animals from 200 species are yellow billed storks and Kenyan crested guinea fowl. These beautiful birds can be found in the African Bird Yard exhibit. Because of the tremendous popularity of the Safari Express train ride, a second train will be brought in just for Spring Break week, allowing more riders to enjoy the sights of the zoo with less time waiting in line. {{more}} New at the Watering Hole concession stand will be grilled hamburgers with all the trimmings. Paired with a bag of chips and a soft drink in a Zoo souvenir cup, you’ll have a delicious, economical lunch. Carts selling Dippin’ Dots , cotton candy and assorted beverages will be set up throughout the Zoo. A membership kiosk will be set up during the week for those who wish to renew their memberships, or to become new members. Abilene Zoo members not only enjoy free admission to the Abilene Zoo all year, but also receive a discount on purchases made in the Zoo gift shop, and for birthday parties and Zoo camps. An added benefit of membership is that the Abilene Zoo participates in a program with over 100 other zoos across the United States to offer free or discounted admissions. Abilene Zoo memberships start for as little as $30 a year. Over 18,000 guests visited the Zoo during last year’s Spring Break. The Abilene Zoo is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Last admittance is 4:30 pm. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 3-12, $4 for seniors aged 60+. http://www.abilenezoo.org/. 325-676-6085.
